PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal pole type fence for improving the appearance and reducing the cost by hiding a gap between fences and by eliminating or reducing screws, and for enabling enhancement of connecting strength of the fences. SOLUTION: (a1) Stiles having a pair of engaged edges are fitted to longitudinal both end parts of the fence. (b1) A connecting member has the length same as that of the stile of the fence, has a substantially H-letter shape in cross section, has fitting grooves into which the stiles can be fitted, and has a pair of engaging edges on opposite faces of one of the fitting grooves and an engaging edge on an inner surface of the other fitting groove. (c1) The stile of the fence on one side is fitted into the fitting groove of the connecting member having the pair of engaging edges so that a pair of engaged edges may be engaged with the pair of engaging edges of the connecting member to connect and fix the connecting member to the fence on one side. (c1') Then, the stile of the fence on the other side which is to be connected to the fitting groove of the connecting member having the single engaging edge is fitted so that one of the pair of the engaged edges of the stile may be engaged with the single engaging edge of the connecting member to connect and fix the fence on the other side to the connecting member.
