PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat treatment apparatus for heat-treating a carbon material which maintains high productivity and prevents clogging of the carbon material in a conveying path. SOLUTION: The heat treatment apparatus for heat-treating a fibrous or powdery carbon material comprises a crucible 4 made of an electrical conducting material for receiving the carbon material, a compression means 25 for compressing the carbon material received in the crucible 4, and an electric energizing means 25 for heat-treating the compressed carbon material by electrically energizing it through the crucible 4.
