PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cushioning air bag showing sealability high enough to keep good sealability even when the air bag is locally deformed. SOLUTION: The cushioning air bag 1 has an air valve in an airtight bag main body 2 as a tubular air passage 3 making the inside of the bag main body 2 intercommunicate with the outside thereof, the air valve being made by overlapping two films 4a and 4b and sealing both ends into a wide tube 5 and having a structure capable of preventing an air leakage by being closed by air pressure of the inside of the bag wherein one end of the wide tube 5 protrudes into the bag main body 2, a thick plate shape retentive part 9 continuing in the widthwise direction of one film 4b constructing the wide tube 5 is formed in the wide tube 5 in the bag main body 2, and a sealable structural chuck 10 crossing the wide tube 5 is formed at the opening 7 of the outside of the wide tube 5.
