PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a stator coil which facilitates the work for inserting an assembled stator coil from the aperture of a slot. SOLUTION: Conductor portions 40 each receiving the slot of a previously manufactured one turn of cylindrical wave winding coil are contained separately in the guide grooves 301 of an insertion tool 300, pushed out radially outward, and pushed into the slots 401 of a stator core 400 separately from the guide grooves 301. The circumferential pitch, i.e. the circumferential interval of two slot receiving conductor portions 40, 40 of one turn of wave winding coil adjoining in the circumferential direction, is substantially equalized to the aperture of the slot 401 in the stator core 400. Since the circumferential pitch of the slot receiving conductor portions 40, 40 is not required to be reduced by reducing the previously manufactured one turn of cylindrical wave winding coil, the work for inserting the slot receiving conductor portions 40 into the stator core 400 is facilitated.
