摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a digital data signal and a digital video signal in parallel at low cost without significantly changing an existing G-PON (Gigabit-Passive Optical Network) communication system, and to remarkably save wavelength resources. <P>SOLUTION: The PON communication system is configured by a plural sets of ONUs (Optical Network Units) including at least two of a first type ONU 44, a second type ONU 42, and a third type ONU 40 so as to access an OLT (Optical Line Terminal) 10 through the PON 30. The OLT comprises a station-side CDM (Code Division Multiplexing) transceiving unit 14, a station-side TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) transceiving unit 12, and a WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) filter 28 for OLT. The first type ONU comprises a CDM transmitting unit 74, a CDM receiving unit 76, an optical coupling/branching unit 72, and a wavelength separation filter 70. The second type ONU comprises a TDM transmitting unit 66, a TDM receiving unit 68, and a WDM filter 64 for TDM.
