<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin counting system 11 that counts coins of denominations matched with the denominations in a cassette safe. <P>SOLUTION: A coin counter 12 sets the denominations of the coins to be counted by a denomination setting part 28. A cassette loading machine 13 reads denomination information in the loaded cassette safe using a denomination read part 44, and notifies the coin counter 12 of the denomination information in the cassette safe. The coin counter 12 verifies the set denomination information with the denomination information in the cassette safe notified from the cassette loading machine 13.
