PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing paper enabling high-speed papermaking, having light weight while corresponding to high-speed offset rotary press printing, free from generation of paper powder, and having excellent opacity, especially printing opacity. SOLUTION: The printing paper contains at least a raw material pulp containing a deinked pulp of 30-100 mass%, and a filler as constituent components, and has a surface pH of 6.0-10.0 and a basis weight of 36-50 g/m<SP>2</SP>. The filler contains (1) calcium carbonate coagulated or crystallized to chestnut shape and having a BET specific surface area of 50 m<SP>2</SP>/g or less and an oil absorption of 150 ml/100 g or more, and (2) hydrated silicic acid produced without passing a drying step after reaction.
