PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of easily forming a constitution for varying a driving state according to respective different cleaning states. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner detects an inversion cycle of the rotation direction of a rotary brush 26 by a motor 27 based on a current value of the motor 27 detected by a current sensor 101. A control circuit 3 on the side of a cleaner body 1 varies the input of an electric blower 2 according to a detected inversion cycle. A constitution for varying the driving state according to different cleaning states such as a regular cleaning state and a cleaning state along a wall where the inversion cycle is relatively smaller than that of the regular cleaning state, is easily formed via a power wire PL alone for feeding a power from the side of the cleaner body 1 to the motor 27.
