PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a software update system, a management device and a terminal, for extracting only option software needing update and transmitting an update package to a client when updating software installed to the client. SOLUTION: An update request is sent to a server 20 from an update request function 121 of a PC 10-1 together with version information of option software, the server 20 generates the update package specifying the option software needing the update to update it by a package generation function 23, and the generated update package is sent to the PC 10-1, so that the specific option software inside the PC 10-1 is updated.
