<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device, reducing an influence of image quality deterioration due to a spot size on a screen in the case of using a light source having strong directivity such as a laser beam and a scan type image forming means. <P>SOLUTION: This image display device includes a light source device 10 emitting a light beam, a scan type image forming means (illustrated by an MEMS mirror 14) forming an image on the screen 15, a variable focal device 13 disposed in an optical path extending until light emitted from the light source device 10 reaches the image forming means, and a control means for controlling the variable focal device 13 so that the spot size of a light beam projected on the screen 15 is varied according to the projection size of an image or user's operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
