<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can appropriately maintain charging performance of a charging member by constantly avoiding adherence and accumulation of residual transfer toner. <P>SOLUTION: A photoreceptor drum 1Y is destaticized by disposing an image carrier destaticizing device 10 between a toner charging member 71 and a transfer roller 21. Charge carrier is generated in the photosensitive layer of the photosensitive drum 1Y by exposure with an exposure unit 101 after the charging of toner. Thereby, the surface potential is discharged to a ground potential. Thus, the residual transfer toner is efficiently charged to a normal polarity by applying a high voltage to the toner charging member 71. Additionally, in a charging area (a), a potential difference sufficient to block transfer of residual transfer toner to a charging roller 21 is ensured by pressing the residual transfer toner against the photosensitive drum 1Y and stopping it thereon. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
