PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the prevention of CCD from getting damaged without working a connector when the endoscope is extracted with the CCD driven. SOLUTION: The electronic endoscope 10 is detachably connected to the processor unit 12 by connectors 24 and 40. Contacts 46e and 46f provided at both ends of the second control connector 40 formed flat are connected to a CPU 60. The CPU 60 detects the start of extraction of the first control connector 24 when the voltage of one of ports to which the contacts 46e and 46f are connected changes from Lo to Hi. When detecting the start of extraction, the CPU 60 makes a CCD driver 51 stop outputting a drive signal to a CCD 50 and after that, makes a power supply section 62 stop supplying power to the CCD 50.
