PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk in which a recording layer surface has high surface flatness without inclining, the magnetic disk having recording magnetic sections arranged in the shape of dots. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk A1 is provided with a recording layer which has: a recording area 21 which has a configuration in which a plurality of recording magnetic sections 211A made of magnetic substances are arranged along a disk circumferential direction (direction X) and a disk radial direction (direction Y) in a state separated by a non-magnetic section 211B; a periphery side unrecorded area 22 located outside in the disk radial direction to the recording area 21; an inner periphery side non-recording area 23 located inside in the disk radial direction to the recording area 21. The periphery side unrecorded area 22 includes: a guard area 221 which is made of a harder material than that of the non-magnetic section 211B; and a non-magnetic area 222 which is made of the same material as that of the non-magnetic section 211B.
