Disclosed is an image pickup device that can detect phase differences while allowing light to enter an image pickup element. An image pickup unit (1) is equipped with an image pickup element (10), which is configured to receive light and perform photoelectric conversion and is configured appropriately to allow transmission of the light, and a phase difference detection unit (20) that receives the light transmitted through the image pickup element (10). The image pickup element (10) has chrominance light receiving parts (11b, 11b, ) equipped with color filters (15r, 15g, 15b) for obtaining color information, and luminance light receiving parts (11b, 11b, ) configured to receive more light than the chrominance light receiving parts (11b, 11b, ) for obtaining brightness information. The phase difference detection unit (20) receives at least the light transmitted through the luminance light receiving parts (11b, 11b, ) and detects phase differences. |
