The method involves determining the hand moment (HM) of the driver exerted at the steering wheel. A hand moment size is determined from the measured hand moment. A counter around a predetermined step size (SW1) is decremented based on the counter value of the previous clock if the hand moment size is smaller than the predetermined threshold (HMS1). The new counter value is stored for use in the next clock. An independent claim is included for a device for executing the missing driver activity identification method.
