PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure abnormality detection device for a resolver capable of accurately detecting the abnormalities of the resolver. SOLUTION: Existence of an abnormality of the resolver is determined, based on the square sum of sinθand cosθ. When it is determined that the resolver has an abnormality, a counted value is gradually increased with the passage of time; while when determined that the resolver has no abnormality, the counted value is gradually decreased with the passage of time.
