PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for producing printed products, the method being suitable for cutting books having different formats and produced sequentially. SOLUTION: The production is performed by using a processing apparatus 2, which includes at least one of tools 17, 18 and 19 for processing respective printed products 5, and a conveying device 11 for supplying the printed product 5 to the at least one of tools 17, 18 and 19. The printed product 5 has an information index 13 detectable on a conveying path to the processing apparatus 2. The data of the index is detected by a reading device and used for processing the printed product 5. The data is transmitted to a control device 23, which controls the at least one of tools 17, 18 and 19 so as to process each printed product 5 based on the received data.
