PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a web coating method capable of preventing occurrence of coating defects such as coating streaks, coating unevenness, or the like attributed to sagging of a metering bar, vibration and a support and highly precisely forming a coating film with a uniform thickness on the web surface fed at a high speed, and a web coating apparatus. SOLUTION: The web coating apparatus is used for applying a coating solution to the surface of a fed web and stirring up and leveling the coating solution by a pivoting metering bar to adjust the coating solution in a desired thickness, and the outer diameter of the metering bar is 40 mm or wider.
