PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of an engine for improving output and fuel economy while preventing damage to the engine due to thermal damage. SOLUTION: This engine control device includes: an ignition timing control means controlling ignition timing of an engine that can use a blended fuel with alcohol blended therein; an exhaust air-fuel ratio detection means detecting the exhaust air-fuel ratio of the engine; a concentration detection means detecting an alcohol concentration in the blended fuel; an operation state detection means detecting the operation state of the engine; and a correction means correcting a target equivalence ratio to a lean direction by controlling the amount of fuel injected from a fuel injection valve and also correcting the ignition timing controlled by the ignition timing control means to an advance side, according as the alcohol concentration detected by the concentration detection means is high when the operating condition detection means detects a predetermined high-speed and high-load operation state.
