PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and costs of a driver IC for controlling a common electrode while performing a preferable display operation. SOLUTION: An electrooptical device 100 includes a pixel electrode 9a, a common electrode 11, an electrooptical material 50, and a common line drive circuit 110 supplying a common voltage signal to the common electrode so that a first voltage and a second voltage vary at a prescribed period and the first voltage and the second voltage are established between the adjacent common electrodes. The common electrodes constitute N common electrode groups (N is an integer of 3 or more) each of which includes a plurality of common electrodes corresponding to a prescribed number of continuous rows. The common electrodes corresponding to the horizontal lines having the same lines from the respective head horizontal lines of the common electrode groups are electrically connected to the same common electrode control line. A prescribed number of the common electrode control lines are formed so as to correspond to the respective prescribed number of horizontal lines. The common line drive circuit supplies a common voltage signal switched from the first voltage to the second voltage or from the second voltage to the first voltage at timing of 1/N of a prescribed period for the prescribed number of common electrode control lines.
