<p>In a server device (310), an upper hierarchy encoding section (330) references the intermediate data obtained during the encoding of a lower hierarchy to perform inter-hierarchy prediction when encoding the upper hierarchy of a block included in an area of interest. In a client device (360), a cache section (364) can hold only upper hierarchy encoded data. The server device (310) transmits only lower hierarchy encoded data with respect to the frame in which the upper hierarchy encoded data is held in the cache section (364) in advance. In the client device (360), a decoding section (370) references the result of the decoding of the lower hierarchy encoded data of the block when decoding the upper hierarchy encoded data. Therefore, image contents to be distributed can be efficiently reproduced and the protection of the image contents can be simplified.</p> |
