<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a living body implant preventing infection with microorganisms over a long period by preventing both early-stage infection and late-stage infection without having toxicity to the human body. <P>SOLUTION: The living body implant includes a surface layer comprising one or more metal oxides of which isoelectric point is less than 7 and an antibacterial inorganic material at least on part of a substrate comprising metal, ceramic, or plastic. Early-stage infection is prevented by the antibacterial inorganic material eluted from the surface layer. In addition, the metal oxide layer does not dissolve in a body fluid almost at all, and its negative charge does not decay as time passes, so that infection with microorganisms can be prevented over a long period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
