PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device which prevents an accident by shorting and is superior in safety. SOLUTION: The device includes a plurality of secondary batteries C1 to C3 connected in series, limiting resistors 5<SB>1</SB>to 5<SB>4</SB>connected to respective electrodes of the plurality of secondary batteries, a voltage detecting circuit 9 detecting voltages between terminals of the plurality of the secondary batteries based on potential obtained from the plurality of the secondary batteries through the limiting resistors, a control circuit 17 specifying a secondary battery to be discharged based on the voltages between the terminals of the plurality of secondary batteries, which are detected by the voltage detecting circuit, and sending a discharge command thereto and a discharging circuit 10 discharging the secondary battery specified in accordance with the command from the control circuit through the limiting resistor.
