PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet apparatus which can detect an abnormality related to pressure change at a suction mechanism, and to provide a method of detecting pressure change. SOLUTION: The liquid jet apparatus includes a liquid jet head 32 which includes nozzles 33a and makes a liquid jetted from the nozzles 33a, the suction mechanism 40 for sucking the liquid from the nozzles 33a, and pressure detection executing means 34 and 50 which detect the abnormality of pressure change at the time when the suction mechanism 40 operates if an index value related to continuous use of the suction mechanism 40 reaches a predetermined value.
