PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact synchronous reluctance motor which can be improved in torque. SOLUTION: In the synchronous reluctance motor, convex grooves 24 are formed along q-axis in an outer circumferential surface of the rotor core 2. A rotor coil 4 is wound in the convex grooves 24. Applying a direct current to the rotor coil 4 generates a torque of a current magnetic fluxΦi in addition to a reluctance torque.
