PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily remove the water contained in generated high-pressure hydrogen, and to enable smooth and reliable waste water treatment. SOLUTION: The hydrogen generation system 10 is equipped with a water electrolysis apparatus 14 which produces the high-pressure hydrogen by electrolyzing the water, and a gas-liquid separation apparatus 18 with removes the moisture included in the high-pressure hydrogen. A drain line 28 is connected to a first gas-liquid separator 18a constituting the gas-liquid separation apparatus 18.
