PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protector having a structure preventing catching of a head part of an occupant moving upwardly in a wedge-shaped space formed between a moving handrail and a fixed body, and suitable for maintaining mounting strength and accuracy. SOLUTION: In the wedge-shaped space where the moving handrail 1B and the fixed body 2 are crossed leaving a horizontal gap, the protector 3 which comprises a vertical edge 3C having an upper end part 3A fixed to the fixed body 2 and a lower end part 3B located in a lower position than that of the moving handrail 1B and a closed edge 3D closing the horizontal gap by projecting the vertical edge 3C to a balustrade 1E side and has an approximately L-shape as a whole is provided.
