PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding apparatus for accumulating and binding the paper sheets with adhesive stuck thereto, in which the accumulated paper sheets can be adhered accurately in position. SOLUTION: The binding apparatus includes: a glue applying mechanism 30 that applies a glue to a prescribed gluing position of paper sheets P conveyed successively; a binding mechanism 50 that is installed downstream from the glue applying mechanism 30 in the conveying direction, that superimpose the paper sheets P with the glue applied thereto accumulates the paper sheets, and that sticks with pressure the superimposed paper sheets with the peripheries of the superimposed paper sheets put in order at the gluing position; and a separating means that separates the gluing position of the succeeding paper from the preceding paper until the preceding paper already accumulated and the succeeding paper conveyed thereon are at least put in order in the binding mechanism 50.
