PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing damage of a developing unit and a developer replenishment member. SOLUTION: In a color printer equipped with a rotary type developing device 3, a control part 8 rotates and moves the developing unit 16 after a toner supply pipe 25 is moved to a retreat position if a toner supply pipe detection part 24 detects that the toner supply pipe 25 is inserted in the developing unit 16 when rotating and moving the developing unit 16.
