JOINTING METHOD

Provided is a jointing method for jointing metal members to each other by agitating their abutting portions frictionally from the surface side and the back side thereof, thereby to improve the gas-tightness and the water-tightness at the jointed portions. The jointing method comprises a first jointing step for agitating the abutting portions (J1) of metal members (1a and 1b) frictionally from the side of the surface (A) of an object metal member (1), and a second jointing step for agitating the abutting portions (J1) frictionally from the side of the back (B) of the object metal member (1). The jointing method is characterized in that the frictional agitation is performed at the second jointing step by inserting the agitating pins of a jointing rotation tool (G) into a surface-side plasticizing region (W1) formed at the first jointing step, thereby to reduce cavity defects (R) left in the surface-side plasticizing region (W1).
