<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device capable of reducing the engaged time of a claw clutch. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle control device has a first engaging member, a second engaging member, a motor, an actuator, a predicting means and an engagement command means. The predicting means computes a predicted value of angle deviation between the first engaging member and the second engaging member after a delay time from the delay time from a command signal to the start of the actuator and from speed deviation between the first engaging member and the second engaging member. The engagement command means gives an engagement command to the actuator based on the predicted value of angle deviation computed by the predicting means. In this manner, engagement determination can be carried out after considering discrepancy between the angle deviation when determining engagement and the angle deviation when the actuator is actually operated.
