<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily generate a preview image matched with a print image. <P>SOLUTION: According to an image forming apparatus 1, when an instruction of image editing is inputted through an operation display unit 20, in memory control units 42C-42T, instructed image editing processing is applied to inputted print image data. In parallel with the processing, in the memory control unit 42T, thumbnail image data are generated by thinning out the print image data and in a control unit 10, the generated thumbnail image data are enlarged to an image size of print image data by inserting optional data between pixels of the thumbnail image data. In the memory control unit 42T, the same image editing processing as the print image data is applied to the enlarged image data.
