Provided is a communication device used in a communication system which requires a retransmission signal upon detection of an error in an initial transmission signal received. The communication device includes: a reception unit which receives a initial transmission signal and a retransmission signal; a synthesis unit which, upon reception of a retransmission signal by the reception unit, combines a signal based on the retransmission signal with a signal based on the retransmission signal received prior to the retransmission signal or the initial transmission signal; and a repeated detection decoding unit which performs a signal decoding according to the signal synthesized by the synthesis unit. Thus, it is possible to reduce the number of retransmissions and the number of repeated processes.
