PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a paper size without mounting an electronic component to a paper feeding tray and regulate paper in an accurate stacking position all the time. SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with the paper feeding tray 10 attachable/detachable to/from a device body and having side fences 15 nipping stacked paper P and erected opposing to each other so as to be slidable without steps to a paper regulating position for regulating the stacking position of the paper P; and with a paper size detection mechanism 20 provided on the device body side, having a size detection rack 21 to move the side fences 15 to the paper regulating position and detecting the size of the paper P based on the movement amount of the size detection rack 21 when the size detection rack 21 moves the side fences 15 to the paper regulating position accompanying storage of the paper feeding tray 10.
