PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding device capable of attaching automatically as an addition a reinforcing sheet onto a backbinding face, when applying an adhesive onto an inner biding sheet and when binding a book by binding a cover sheet. SOLUTION: The cover sheet is supplied to a treating stage for the bookbinding, and is positioned therein, the reinforcing sheet is supplied on the cover sheet, the inner binding sheet is joined to the cover sheet, and the cover sheet is folded back into a ridged shape. The bookbinding device adopts therein either of a method of addition-bonding the inner sheet under the condition where the reinforcing sheet is mounted on the cover sheet, or a method of bonding the reinforcing sheet on the cover sheet, onto the inner sheet applied with the adhesive, and of binding the reinforcing sheet onto the cover sheet and of binding it onto the cover sheet, after the adhesive is applied again to the reinforcing sheet.
