The method involves checking unencrypted data before encryption of data, and cleaning the infected data by an encryption unit (4). A non-infected data is fragmented into data packets, and a hash value or check sum of the packets is formed and attached to the packets. The packets are subsequently encrypted and are associated with a message. The encrypt data is identified based on the message, and is decrypted by a decryption unit. The hash value or the check sum is calculated and compared with a transmitted hash value or check sum. An infection is determined based on the comparison result.
