The method involves connecting a bus subscriber (T1) with an interface (S1) of a subsequent bus subscriber (T2) over an interface (S). The subscriber (T2) is connected with another interface (S2) of a preceding bus subscriber over the interface (S1), where the preceding bus subscriber acts as a master in relation to the subsequent bus subscriber. An interrogation command (AB) is sent from the subscriber (T1) to the subscriber (T2), and is successively forwarded to the subsequent bus subscriber up to a last bus subscriber (Tn), which is not connected to the subsequent bus subscriber.
