<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable updating of a diagnostic model not only on a regular basis but also in an unscheduled fashion in conformity with actualities of failure situations in a market when a failure diagnosis is performed using a causality network. <P>SOLUTION: A threshold of update processing is determined on the basis of the number of failures and a failure occurrence rate (S120). Even when it is not update time, it is determined whether a conditional probability table is updated or not on the basis of the threshold (S130-S152). For instance, when the number of failures or the occurrence rate becomes the update threshold or more, it becomes a candidate for a target of an unscheduled update (S150-YES). When the number of failures or the occurrence rate becomes less than a certain-fold of the update threshold, the update threshold is kept certain-fold (S152-NO, S154). When the number of failures or the occurrence rate is more than or equals to the certain-fold with respect to the update threshold, weighting coefficients concerning the number of failures are adjusted so as to be different from the certain-fold on a failure part-by-failure part basis (S152-YES, S156). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
