PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device including a compact power supply circuit, which safely turns off a power supply even upon electric power failure without requiring complicated control. SOLUTION: The plasma display device 30 includes: a panel 10 including a plurality of discharge cells having a scan electrode, a sustain electrode, and a data electrode; a scan electrode drive circuit 33 driving the scan electrode; a sustain electrode drive circuit 34 driving the sustain electrode; a data electrode drive circuit 32 driving the data electrode; and a power supply circuit 36 supplying electric power to each of the scan electrode drive circuit 33, the sustain electrode drive circuit 34, and the data electrode drive circuit 32. The power supply circuit 36 includes a power interruption detection part 41 detecting interruption of a commercial AC power supply. The power interruption detection part 41 detects the interruption within a period of 1/2 to 1 of a power supply cycle after the interruption of the commercial AC power supply. The power supply circuit 36 interrupts the supply of the electric power within one cycle of the commercial AC power supply after the power interruption detection part 41 detects the electric power interruption.
