PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work conveying mechanism capable of restraining fatigue of a feed pin engaged with a palette mounted with a work, and abrasion of the palette. SOLUTION: The work conveying mechanism 5 has feed shafts 13, 14 with the feed pins 18 attached at a fixed feed pitch P, the feed pins 18 are engaged with the palette 3 on a conveying route 4 from a rear side thereof, and the feed shafts 13, 14 are moved frontwards to move the palette 3. The feed shafts 13, 14 are rotated to release the engagement of the feed pins 18 with the palette 3, and the feed shafts 13, 14 are returned to original positions. This manner is repeated to convey the palette 3. A shaft returning mechanism (feed claw separating means) 17 retracts the feed shafts 13, 14 by a distanceα, before releasing the engagement of the feed pins 18 with the palette 3, to separate the feed pins 18 from the palette 3. The fatigue of the feed pin 18 and the abrasion of the palette 3 are restrained since the feed pins 18 does not slide-contact with the palette 3, when releasing the engagement.
