PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear actuator in which the radial displacement is restricted and the axial displacement is stabilized at the time of expansion/contraction. SOLUTION: The linear actuator comprises an outer pipe having a polygonal transverse shape and capable of being passed through an intermediate tube and an inner tube having the same shape, a retaining device installed at the bottom of the outer tube and capable of being engaged with a winding device, a withdrawing tool having one end installed at the bottom of the inner tube and the other end connected to the outer pipe and an intermediate stage movably retained by the retaining device and capable of being engaged with the winding device for driving the winding device, and a connection board. The connection board is installed at the bottom of the intermediate tube having a retaining tube fitted in the center, a pulley for pressing up the central stage of the withdrawing tool provided on the top of the retaining tube and having a wire arranged at one end, having one end of the wire secured to the inside of the outer tube and the other secured to the top end of the inner tube with the one end inserted to the intermediate tube.
