PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing spinning reel in which a switching mechanism for switching a drag mechanism from an operated state to a non-operated state is disposed, and which can exhibit a sufficient drag force without enlarging a portion around a spool/increasing the weight of the portion. SOLUTION: Provided is the fishing spinning reel having the spool 3, a rotor 2 which winds and guides the line on the spool 3 through a line guide 2a, a drag mechanism 20 for giving a braking force to rotation, when the spool 3 is rotated in a direction for delivering the line, a switch mechanism 30 for switching the spool 3 into a drag-operating state or into a drag-free state, and a returning mechanism for returning the spool 3 from the free state to the drag-operating state, characterized in that the returning mechanism is disposed on a spool shaft to forward or backward move the spool in interlock with the spool shaft 3a and has a returning operator 67 rotated in interlock with the rotation of the rotor 2; and the switch mechanism 30 switches and returns the spool 3 into the drag-operating state through the returning operator 67 by the rotation of the rotor 2 in the direction for winding the line.
