A field rephaseable metering device is provided including at least three distribution buses (50, 52, 54) including two side buses (50, 54) and a center bus (52), the center bus (52) having a vertical center line (601). At least one meter socket (30) is provided having a vertical center line (603) offset from the vertical center line (601) of said center bus, (52) each meter socket including a first line terminal (68) and a second line terminal (68). At least two line straps (62, 64) are provided, each having a first end (50) configured for connecting with one of the first or second line terminals, and a second elongate end (96) configured to be selectively connectable to one of the side buses (50, 54) associated with its line terminal or the center bus (52). When each line strap (62, 64) is positioned to connect one of the line terminals with one of the distribution buses, a longitudinal axis (405) of each line strap is substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis (501) of each distribution bus.
