CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily reduce emission of white smoke during a cold engine state in a control device for an internal combustion engine.

SOLUTION: A sufficient valve overlap period is set while increasing back pressure by closing an exhaust throttle valve 24 and a variable nozzle 22c during start of a diesel engine 10. The valve overlap period is set to a period shorter than that during start after completion of start (after complete explosion determination). The exhaust throttle valve 24 is opened and opening of the variable nozzle 22c is reduced after the completion of start.
