PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device which allows the dissolution of burdensome task of operating a steering wheel in performing an alignment measuring work, maintenance and checking work. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device is equipped with an external operation device 100 which enables an optional control of a motor-regulating means by allowing an operator to maneuver it from outside the cabin of a vehicle. The external operation device 100 is capable of making an access to RAM of a controller 15, and enables an optional control of steering operation from outside the vehicle, by providing a command signal for a lock-to-lock operation of the steering at the time of caster angle measuring in alignment measurement work, and giving a command signal for fixing the steering at the central point in performing an alignment adjustment work.
