PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder head gasket for which a means for preventing the deformation of a cylinder head can easily be designed based on sealing means including a bead and that can secure high sealing bearing pressure, and to provide a designing method of the cylinder head gasket. SOLUTION: When the cylinder head gasket is divided, in plan view, into four areas of R1, R2, R3, and R4 in such a way that the areas of a front side Fr and a rear side Rr become equal and that the areas of an exhaust side Ex and an intake side In become equal, sum of bead length in each area of R1, R2, R3, and R4 is indicated asΣL1A,ΣL2A,ΣL3A, andΣL4A respectively. Supposing the area of R1 is the largest, parting beads 16, 26 are added so that, in the areas of R2, R3, R4 which are smaller than the largest area R1, each sum ofΣL2A,ΣL3A, andΣL4 of the bead length becomes no less than 95% and no more than100% of the sum ofΣL1A of the bead length of the largest area R1.
