PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a misfire detecting device of an internal combustion engine capable of improving misfire determining accuracy particularly in a high rotational operation area, by reducing a difference from a desired value of a determining parameter for determining a misfire. SOLUTION: The determining parameter MFJUD is calculated at each cylinder based on an engine speed parameter CRME and OMG for indicating an engine speed of an engine (S31). A correction quantity MFJOFFP is calculated by retrieving a correction quantity table preset according to an engine speed NE (S32). The correction quantity table is set according to a change in a pump loss in the engine caused by a change in the engine speed. A correction determining parameter MFJUDC is calculated by subtracting the correction quantity MFJOFFP from the determining parameter MFJUD (S33). When the correction determining parameter MFJUDC reaches a negative value, it is determined that the misfire is caused in a corresponding cylinder. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
