PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of increasing a speed in starting and a method for starting the image processing apparatus. SOLUTION: At the end of operation, a present operation program including data used for the operation is extracted from a RAM and a boot image is prepared by a preparation means 11. The prepared boot image is written in an outer peripheral area 151 which can be accessed at a high speed in a hard disk 15 by a writing means 11.
