PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal porous body in which progression of cracks are suppressed in bending work by press forming or the like, and fracture is hard to occur, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a metal porous body 1, a mesh metallic reinforcing body 3 is superimposed only on one face 5a of a planar foam metal 2, the foam metal and the reinforcing body are press-fixed, e.g., by a pair of rolls 6a, 6b for compression, many fine cracks 7 by destruction are manufactured in the foam metal so as to communicate pores partitioned by respective shell membranes 4, 4, and simultaneously, the reinforcing body is buried in the foam metal.
