The invention relates to an oxygen breathing device, in particular for providing oxygen to passenger or crew member of an aircraft, the device comprising a first chemical oxygen source comprising at least one chemical agent, which is able to perform a chemical reaction to produce oxygen. According to the invention a second chemical oxygen source is additionally provided, said second chemical oxygen source comprising at least one chemical agent, which is able to perform a chemical reaction to produce oxygen, wherein the first and the second oxygen source may be started independently from each other.
